Welcome to our blog of our new adventures in our Airstream. We are closing in on the completion of the renovation so this blog will not contain long extended postings of the renovation journey. We will add before/after photos later.
We purchased the Airstream in July 2016 with the expectation of a fairly quick clean up and and check of the appliances and then hit the road to the closest fly-fishing spot. Didn’t work out that way. The Airstream ended up gutted and we started from the ground up; rebuilding it. Our plans to keep the original appliances quickly fell apart as we discovered they were rusty and most likely not safe to use ever again. The up side is that we were able to redesign the interior to our needs. Rod is a skilled craftsman and this project showcases those skills.
So, here is where we are as of today

This is the kitchen! All 10 feet of it. Everything has been constructed with the ‘ounces make pounds’ thought process. Vintage Airstreams (ours is a 1969 Overlander) were designed and constructed to be pulled by the family car. We think it is important to maintain that original design structure.

The dinette at the front of the Airstream. The tabletop is on a telescoping pedestal that will allow it to be lowered onto the cleats on the sides. The back seat cushions will fill in to provide a queen sized bed. The cushions are done and waiting inside the house.
